Data Protection Scotland - 25th November 2009

This event hopes to raise awareness within the public sector around Data protection the reasoning  for this is that  with more and more information being stored and transferred digitally, there is strong concerns amongst the general public for the privacy of their personal details. The Information Commissioners Office has been to monitor organizations data protection policies….

The main aims of the event are to:

Raise awareness of the role and functions of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) within Scotland.

Reviewing the draft Identity Management and Privacy Principles produced by the Public Service Reform Directorate.

Sharing examples of best practice in data protection between public and private sector organizations.

Discussing the benefits of Privacy Impact Assessments, including Privacy by Design initiatives and Privacy Enhancing Technologies.

Examining the options for the safe storage, transfer and transportation of data.

A series of master classes will also be run throughout the day and Salford Software are hosting one of these sessions around Protecting Sensitive Data - Using Identity Management the session is being delivered by Salford Software’s Head of Professional services David Guest, topics covered will include: Protecting Sensitive Data, Improving Security Compliance, Increasing Return on Investment, Audit the Management Process and Enhancing the User Experience.
