Do You Need Identity Management?

Firstly a couple of questions:

Q. How long does it take for a new starter to obtain a username and password?

A. Believe it or not with some organisation’s I have spoken to recently it can take up to 5 - 10 days. So potentially you have a staff resource who cannot perform any tasks or even worse they can perform tasks with somebody else’s password – think of the implications if you are a Bank, a PCT trust, a Council/Governmental department, an academic institution or any number of different organisations. One person I spoke to was actually proud that his staff got access within 48hrs!

Q. What type of information do you hold on your system?

A. Most organisations hold personal details of either staff, students, clients, patients or members of the public, how about financial details/documentation or even medical records. All of this information needs to be protected and is covered under strict guidelines which, if breached, can lead to heavy financial penalties.

Q. How many user accounts do you have on your system and how many users are currently employed or engaged by you company or organisation?

A. Again I have spoken to many people who have admitted that they have many redundant users accounts that still have full access to their resources this is sometimes known as a 'Zombie Account'.

Would you be interested if you could:

·         Automate the process of creating usernames and passwords for new starters (access to appropriate systems from day one).

·         Provision employees based on their roles within the organisation.

·         Automatically disable user accounts when employees leave.

·         Audit current activities fast and accurately and establish who has what access.

·         Vastly reduce manual processes within your IT department saving both time and money.
