Salford Software owns and develops GPAS, an enterprise print and photocopy accounting solution. Using the in-depth experience gained from the development during the past 10 years, GPAS for Windows builds upon the success of the earlier GPAS for NetWare, utilising LDAP to tightly integrate with Active Directory for authentication, configuration and balance storage
GPAS fully supports clustering, multiple servers, both direct and/or hold-release printing and multiple user balances to allow a completely flexible configuration to suit the individual requirements of each installation. Historical transaction information is retained in a SQL database, with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL supported. Our flexible licensing policy means that GPAS offers an affordable solution whether you wish to control 5 or 5000 printers.
As part of the GPAS product offering, monitoring and charging for photocopying is also possible. The GPAS Photocopying solution directly integrates with Microsoft Active Directory. Integrating with GPAS balances, the solution is also capable of stand-alone operation for example where Pcounter is used for printing.
GPAS for Windows has enabled Salford Software to engage with existing GPAS for NetWare and potential new customers. We can migrate print accounting solutions from NetWare to Windows/Active Directory. With knowledge of both Active Directory, and print accounting solutions Salford Software is able to offer this experience to provide migration approaches dedicated to the individual requirements of each customer.
The GPAS Workstation Print Release software operates on a dedicated workstation, allowing users to list and release their submitted print jobs. Resource use is optimised by preventing print jobs going astray and allowing selective deletion of unneeded jobs.
Supporting both traditional hold / release and 'follow-me' printing, the GPAS Workstation Print Release software provides users with a flexible and simple printing workflow.
The solution does not rely on direct communication with the physical printers, instead interfacing with the native print server(s) to list and manipulate the available print jobs. Utilising a split window layout, the user interface supports multiple input printer agents / queues in combination with multiple physical output devices.
