Unable to Access New User Mailbox via Webaccess or Client in Groupwise 8

Summary

Groupwise 8 is installed on Windows Server 2003 SP2 + Windows Updates

Using the Groupwise 8 client (on the server) we get,

"Groupwise did not intialise successfully please run groupwise setup"

Using web access we get,

"Your mailbox is unavailable please contact your system administrator"

Issue occurs for all new accounts created on Groupwise 8, exisiting accounts are fine.

Server has Novell Client 4.91.5.20080922

Groupwise is build 8.00.84910

Solution

Verbose logging on the POA revealed

12:03:31 110 C/S Login WebAccess ::GW Id=user1 :: 192.168.3.9 [192.168.104.4]
12:03:31 110 Error: User Database access has been denied [D05A] User:user1 (user1)

We recommended the below:

1) Structural rebuild on each problem user account, check the results for errors, will be emailed to the administrator account of the parent domain.

2) Right click and synchronise each user.

3) Check the membership list on the post office to make sure they are listed.

4) Reset client options with clear password option, then manually set the password again.

Number 4 seemed to have the most effect and resolved the issue.
