Volumes missing in the volcache.dat file and cannot be found by the NSM engine

Summary

Volumes missing from the volcache.dat file. NSM fails to populate this file with all of the volumes.





Symptoms

Volumes do not appear in the target volumes list in the Admin Interface.

If volumes have previously been there and go missing then the engine reports that it is waiting for the storage to become available.

Solution

Upgrade NSM to v2.5

Information from Novell when asked if any other customers experience this same issue:-

Yes this appears to be the only course of action to be taken at this time. It apparently took some re-engineering to solve the problem.

I will let you know if the developers decide to retro fit NSM 2.0. Since your client is the only one to exhibit the issue under 2.0. If we get any others they may consider retro fitting the NSM 2.0 Engine.
