SLED11 x64 YaST online update problem

Summary

A customer couldn't get YaST online update to work on SLED11 x64 after a reinstall.

Even though he successfully registered the workstation in the Novell Customer Centre, it wouldn't add the Novell repositories giving the following error:

"There was an error in the repository initialization. Error occurred while setting download (curl) options for 'https://nu.novell.com/?credentials=NCCcredentials'"

Many reports on forums etc indicated that you should

rm /etc/zypp/credentials.d/NCCcredentials

rm /var/cache/SuseRegister/lastzmdconfig.cache

But this does not solve the issue

Solution

Customer installed x64 patches from: http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=5PXBAYCg9EE~

(some were already installed)

Further updates were then shown (150 of them) - After installing those the problem was resolved.
