Problems Installing SP2 on Windows 2003 SP1 Terminal Server

Summary

Cannot install SP2 on Windows 2003 SP1 Terminal Server.

Comes up with the following error message in the event viewer.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007f070: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (32-bit x86).

Solution

Take a backup of the WBEM folder and perform the following steps: -
%windir%system32wbem

After this can you please perform the following?

1.cd %windir%system32wbem and press enter.

2.for /f %s in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 /u /s %s press enter.

3.for /f %s in ('dir /b *.dll') do regsvr32 /s %s press enter.

4.wmiprvse /regserver press enter.

5.winmgmt /regserver press enter.

The above mentioned commands will re-register the WMI Core binaries.
