I was chatting to my colleague Michael earlier, and he mentioned and discussed the release of the Exchange 2010 Beta on the 15th April 2009 (Code named Exchange 14). I had been impressed with Exchange 2007 though notably with the release of their service pack so it was interesting to see what additional enhancements were to be found in Exchange 2010.

I went on the First Class training course for Novell’s new version of SuSE Enterprise Linux. Very impressive. Some big changes to patching and Xen workload management in that both areas now use a lib module to actually make changes allowing the applications to use consistent API’s and concentrate on functionality. Everybody who had used SLES 9 and 10 will be relieved that patching is now sorted! I recommend checking out zypper for installing packages.

Change to flexible working legislation will increase pressure to tighten up on employee identity management systems.

The changes will extend the right to ask for flexible working conditions to parents with children under the age of 16. This will impact around 4.5 million workers in the UK putting further strain on technical support to provide secure flexible working.
