Salford Software has extensive technical skills within its professional services and its sales teams across all the Novell solutions - making it easier to renew its partner status.

In addition, Salford Software was able to demonstrate its capability to deliver consultancy and projects using these Novell technologies to four leading organisations during the last 12 months.

"Salford Software is one of only two partners in Europe to have all four specifications and one of only three world-wide making this a special status for the company", said James Doggart, MD, Salford Software.

"We value our strong partnership with Novell, and have implemented some cutting edge solutions for customers in education and public sector organisations."

"Novell UK is thrilled to have Salford Software renew its Platinum partner status and looks forward to developing and strengthening the relationship with our joint customers further during this year" Jill Henry, Partner Director, Novell UK

Licensing Update

You may have heard of discussions over the last few months regarding changes Novell and Salford Software are planning to make to their offerings in the education marketplace. During this time both organisations have been working very closely to ensure they maintain the high levels of service and support to which you, the customer, are rightly entitled.

Over the last 17 years, Salford Software has adapted to the needs of academic customers. This has meant providing licensing, support, training and professional services. In addition to these front line services, in the background, Salford Software also acted as the distributor for Novell. From March 1st 2008 Novell launched a new academic distribution model, through which Salford Software will procure on behalf of its customers. This will allow Salford Software to focus on its core business of providing quality Novell services and support.

What does this mean to you? With regards to your existing contracts (licensing and support) there will be no changes. There will be no disruption to services. Salford Software has retained the right to renew your current contracts. From 1st August 2008 Salford Software will simply process these orders through a distributor at the back-end.

The drivers for change for both Novell and Salford Software were mainly in three areas:

Scope - Novell will be broadening the availability of educational licensing (site licenses) to schools as well as University and Colleges. We see strong potential here.
Availability - Novell will be enabling other Authorised Education Resellers (AER's) to sell the licenses into the expanded markets
Quality of service - No longer acting as a distributor, Salford Software can continue to innovate its front end services to customers.

Novell and Salford Software have gone from strength to strength across the academic market over the last few years. The Novell technology footprint has never been bigger. Salford Software now has revenues in excess of £5m with a staff of more than 50. The latest customer satisfaction survey pointed to a 95% positive rating.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact your Salford Software account manager or a Novell representative.

UCISA Management Conference 2008

Salford Software is attending the UCISA Management Conference 2008
